Cattle Raisers name Skaggs to government
affairs post

WORTH, Texas, Aug. 27, 2007—Jason
Skaggs was announced as the newest addition to the Texas
and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association
staff. Beginning Oct. 1, he
will serve as the association’s executive director of government
affairs and public relations.
Skaggs will be responsible for TSCRA legislative
and regulatory efforts at the state and federal Levels. He will
oversee the Political Action Committee activities, including
fundraising efforts and contributions to political candidates;
and provide staff support to the Legislative and Tax Committee
and manage the policy development process.
Skaggs earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural
development from Texas A&M University in 1998 and a master’s
degree in agribusiness from Mississippi State University in
1999.
“Jason has a strong background in government
affairs work, most recently working as the executive assistant
to Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Chairman [and TSCRA
committee member] Kathleen White,” said Eldon White, TSCRA
executive vice president.
“Previously, he was a legislative adviser to
Texas Senator Robert Duncan and deputy district director and
economic, environmental and agricultural adviser for U.S.
Congressman Charlie Stenholm.
“TSCRA is extremely fortunate to have someone
with Jason's background in legislative and regulatory work join
our staff,” White continued.
Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association
is a 130-year-old trade organization whose 14,800 members manage
approximately 5.4 million cattle on 70.3 million acres of range
and pasture land, primarily in Texas and Oklahoma.
