FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Cattle
Raisers to hold membership gathering in Crockett
FORT WORTH, Texas, April 21, 2005―Beef cattle
producers in the Crockett area are invited to attend a free TSCRA
membership gathering and educational program on Friday, May 20.
Participants can earn two CEUs for their pesticide applicator’s
license. You don’t have to be a TSCRA member to attend. Registration
begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by an introduction and welcome from Texas
Cooperative Extension.
The educational program begins at 6:15 with an update on industry
issues from Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. Following
at 7 p.m. will be a presentation on effective horn fly control by a
representative of Bayer Animal Health.
A complimentary supper will be served at 7:45 p.m., and there
will be lots of time to meet and visit with other producers.
“The purpose of Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers
Association’s membership gatherings is two-fold,” says TSCRA
President Dick Sherron. “We want to provide local opportunities for
cattle producers to meet, visit and get some good information. But more
importantly, we want to concentrate on gathering up some new members.
“Please come and bring your friends and neighbors who should be
members of TSCRA,” Sherron urges. “We must increase the number of
cattle producers we represent if TSCRA is to continue to be an effective
voice for beef producers.”
East Texas Livestock. is hosting the event at the Houston County
Commission Co. barn two miles west of the loop on Highway 21. For
directions call (936) 544-2247.
Sponsors are Bayer Animal Health, AgriLand FCS, Fish & Still
