TSCRA special ranger makes arrest in Cherokee County
TSCRA Special Ranger Jimmy Dickson arrested Michael Bradberry for second degree felony theft in Rusk, Texas. A second degree felony is punishable with a jail sentence of no less than two years and no more than 20 years and/or a fine not to exceed $10,000. more


Meat production link with global warming called 'misinformation'
Dr. Barry Popkin, the University of North Carolina nutrition professor who repeatedly blamed meat producers recently for contributing more to climate change than transportation, is ignoring Environmental Protection Agency data that directly contradict his claims, the nonprofit Center for Consumer Freedom claimed Wednesday. more


Don't 'pug' your pastures advises an AgriLife Extension expert
Dr. Wayne Hanselka, AgriLife Extension range specialist at Corpus Christi, said pugging is a term used when too many cattle or other livestock are kept too long on wet pastures with limited or no forage. The result is intensively trampled soil which leads to soil compaction, poor plant growth and greater fertilizer requirements on tame pastures. He said if the practice continues the damage would increase to the point that pastures start to rapidly decline in quality, sometimes permanently. more
