USDA amends bovine TB regulations in New Mexico
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has determined that New Mexico meets the requirements for zone classification and will be removed from the list of modified accredited advanced states for bovine tuberculosis (TB). more


Antibiotic ban on livestock may hurt U.S. food safety
A bill that would ban the nontherapeutic use of antibiotics in animals would hurt the health of livestock and poultry while compromising efforts to protect the safety of the country's food supply, the leader of the largest U.S. farm group said on Tuesday. more


Wildlife management education events scheduled in Panhandle region
A series of six meetings in Roberts and Hemphill counties will help producers analyze and evaluate the "big picture" of wildlife before making any management decisions. "Advanced Topics in Wildlife Management" is a series of educational events and activities designed for producers and landowners in the Texas Panhandle region, as well as eastern Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Panhandle. more


Texas crop, weather, 3-25-09
Rain and snow came to parts of the state – as much as 6.5 inches of rain in East Texas, 5 inches to parts of North Texas, and 2 inches in Central Texas – but passed over many other drought-stricken areas. Even where rain fell, Texas AgriLife Extension Service reports showed a consensus that much more is needed to give any long-term relief. more
