Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association team up with Tru-Test to offer savings to Texas and Oklahoma cattle producers
The largest livestock association in Texas has partnered up with the largest fencing equipment and livestock scales manufacturer in the world to offer Texas and Oklahoma cattle producers significant savings on reliable equipment. TSCRA, in conjunction with Tru-Test, will offer members mail-in rebates on electric fences and livestock scales at retailers in Texas and Oklahoma. more
Beef summer school in session
The bell rang and class was in session at Texas Tech University where more than 20 students recently participated in the first-ever Beef 706 designed entirely for Texas youth. The checkoff-funded class provided an overview of the beef industry and a hands-on learning experience on beef quality. For 20 years the program has been educating producers about the factors impacting the safety and quality of beef. more
AgriLife Extension offering online courses for small-acreage landowners
Owners of small farms and ranches now have access to Web-based help for managing their land. Four online courses designed for agricultural novices will be offered by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service beginning July 6, said Rebecca Parker, AgriLife Extension's Dallas-based regional director of programs in agriculture and natural science. The courses were organized to meet the demand for information from the growing group of small-acreage landowners. more

For the week ending June 27, feeder cattle prices at Texas auctions were mostly steady to $3 higher per hundred-weight, but some late-week sales were as much as $3 lower, especially on calves weighing less than 500 pounds. Finished cattle prices were steady. more
