Tscra special rangers recover stolen horses in Houston
A Houston man could face up to two years in jail after being arrested for horse theft by TSCRA Special Rangers Jimmy Belt and Doug Hutchison. Derrick Ervin, 36, was arrested on May 22 after he wrote a personal check for a registered American Quarter Horse mare and colt and a registered American Quarter Horse gelding to the Hills Prairie Livestock Company Auction in Bastrop, Texas. more


Commissioner Staples honors 78 historic farms and ranches
Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples and the Texas Department of Agriculture recognized 78 farms and ranches in 60 Texas counties at the 34th annual Family Land Heritage (FLH) ceremony June 4. The ceremony was held in the House Chamber at the Texas State Capitol. The annual event recognizes families who have kept their farms and ranches in continuous agricultural production for more than 100 years. more


Gov. Perry appoints Hughes to Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission
Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Dan Allen Hughes Jr. of Beeville to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2015. The commission oversees the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. more
