Gov. Rick Perry Feb. 25 emphasized the need to fund the State Water Plan, which would ensure a cost-effective and reliable supply of water for Texas' growing population well into the future. Speaking at the Texas Water Conservation Association (TWCA) Conference, the governor proposed that funding be provided to a new infrastructure account to speed the construction of water reservoir sites. more

Vietnam battling hoof-and-mouth outbreak
Vietnamese agriculture officials say hoof-and-mouth disease has been detected in nine provinces during the past three weeks The latest outbreak was reported in central Quang Ngai province, where 19 cows were found to be infected, the Voice of Vietnam radio reported Tuesday. Fifty cows were also found to be infected in Nghe An province. more
