Beef checkoff's Earth Day efforts in place
April 22 marks Earth Day – a day to celebrate America's beef producers and their commitment to the environment, and producers are well into their 2009 Earth Day celebration under the theme, America's Farmers & Ranchers … Everyday Environmentalists. The campaign goal is to educate today's consumer about the steps farmers and ranchers take every day of the year to sustain agriculture and ensure a healthy beef supply for the United States and abroad. more


TPWD sets public hearings on fee increases, dove rule proposals
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is inviting input on a series of proposals to increase fees and alter dove hunting season frameworks during upcoming public hearings around the state. TPWD is conducting 21 public hearings to present recommendations seeking a modest $2-$4 bump in license and boat registration/titling fees. The department says the fee increase is necessary to address critical needs. more


April 29 Brush Management Field Day targets Tilden area
Livestock producers and landowners interested in chemical brush management will have an opportunity to participate in a field day focusing on that subject area. The Brush Management Field Day is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, April 29 at the San Miguel Ranch located in Tilden. Persons interested in attending are asked to RSVP by April 27. more


TDA Market Recap, 4-20-09
For the week ending April 18, feeder cattle prices at Texas auctions were steady to $4 higher with instances of $5-$6 higher on offerings over 500 lbs. Cotton prices ended the week higher, but grains were lower. more
