Federal judge rules NAIS records protected
A federal judge in Washington DC has ruled that records collected in the National Animal Identification System (NAIS) cannot be disclosed under the Freedom of Information Act because they are protected by the U.S. Privacy Act. more
"Rooter" Brite described as conservation activist
"I apply land management practices that are practical, using common sense," TSCRA director J. K. "Rooter" Brite Jr. says. "I don't do things because they are what somebody else thinks might be good. I do things because they work on this land, and that's what makes the difference." Operation New Fences taking place April 25
Operation New Fences, an effort to rebuild fences for ranchers affected by Hurricane Ike, is slated to take place on April 25. The day will begin at 7:00 a.m., with an orientation meeting at the Winnie-Stowell Park, located in Winnie, Texas. Fence building crews will be assigned and proceed to the ranches from this location.
Any volunteers willing to help build fences or serve on work crews should contact Monty Dozier with the Texas AgriLife Extension Service at 979/255-5506 or mdozier@ag.tamu.edu. To ensure enough materials are ready for work crews, please ensure you have contacted Dozier by April 17.
