Crews battle strong winds as they fight wildfires
Firefighters on Sunday continued to battle several wildfires that erupted across Texas over the weekend. The largest of those fires, an 11,000-acre blaze near the Panhandle town of Wheeler near the Texas-Oklahoma border, destroyed eight homes and 26 outbuildings, including barns and garages. An unknown number of cattle were killed, according to the Texas Forest Service. more

Crime watch 4-6-09: Cattle and equipment thefts reported from Oklahoma
TSCRA Special Ranger John Cummings is investigating these and other thefts in Osage and Rogers Counties, Okla.: various cattle and a trailer loaded with welding equipment. TSCRA offers reward dollars through its Operation Cow Thief program. Cash awards are given to those who provide information leading to the arrest and/or Grand Jury indictment of individuals for theft of livestock or related property.
