Cattle trichomoniasis regulations brochure now available from TAHC
The Texas Cattle Trichomoniasis regulations went into effect April 1, and free brochures about the rules are available, either on the Texas Animal Health Commission Web page or by mail. To receive brochures by mail, email TAHC and provide a mailing address and the number of brochures you would like to receive. more


Modern cattle rustlers update Wild West ways
The return of cattle rustlers comes as the ranching industry is at a low point, beset by widespread drought, rising feed and equipment prices, and falling demand for beef, says Richard Tokach, who runs this family ranch near Mandan, N.D. "Cattle theft is alive and well," said Hal Dumas, one of more than 20 investigators working across Texas and Oklahoma for TSCRA. more


Agriculture Committee holds first in series of food safety hearings
The House Agriculture Committee held its hearing Thursday reviewing the food safety system. Those persons testifying included Elsa Murano, Ph.D., president of Texas A&M University and former undersecretary for food safety at the Department of Agriculture; Michael Taylor, J.D., research professor of health policy at The George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services and Chair of the Food Safety Consortium; Carol Tucker-Foreman of the Consumer Federation of America; as well as several industry representatives. more


TSCRA President Dave Scott addresses banking crowd
TSCRA President Dave Scott, Richmond, addressed Texas Bankers Association members Thursday at its 89th Annual Agriculture and Rural Affairs Conference in Fort Worth.
