Texas agricultural production for 2007 was a record $21.8 billion due to higher crop and livestock prices, according to a Texas AgriLife Extension Service report. more
 

CMI: Meat consumption and expenditures
How will what appears to be a permanent increase in grain prices impact U.S. meat consumption and expenditures? That question weighs heavily on the minds of livestock producers and processors as well as retailers and foodservice operators. Higher costs must eventually be passed along in the form of higher prices and the only mechanism that commodity producers have to make that happens is lowering output—unless demand increases. more
 

Historic George Ranch site of TSCRA ranch gathering
The historic George Ranch in Richmond was the site of the TSCRA ranch gathering May 8, where 175 people enjoyed a great dinner and listened to speakers give updates on current issues effecting the beef industry. It was also a good night for joining TSCRA, with the association welcoming 20 new memberships. more
 

Texas crop,weather (5-14-08)
Drought continued to plague some regions, while others received some relief with rain, report Texas AgriLife Extension Service agents from across the state. In some areas, the rain was light,as in the Coastal Bend region. In the Rolling Plains, producers saw a slow, soaking rain. more
