discovered in beef brisket
The beef brisket, treasured by most Texas barbecue connoisseurs and a common staple found inside smoking pits throughout the Lone Star State, contains 'depots' or tiny reservoirs of healthy monounsaturated fatty acids, according to new research. more

Texas A&M-Commerce
offers cattle show and equine science summer camps
Texas A&M Commerce campus is offering both a cattle show and horse science summer camp
for kids age 9-17. The cattle show camp will cover feeding, washing, blow-drying, and showmanship. The equine science camp topics will include basic horsemanship and horse behavior. A one-day horse-judging workshop will also teach a basic idea of what to look for when judging individual halter and
performance classes. Session space is limited, so early registration is
encouraged. more

For the week ending April 26, feeder cattle prices at Texas auctions were mixed, ranging from $4 per hundredweight lower to as much as $8 higher compared to the previous week. Lighter calves showed the biggest declines early in the week. Seasonally lower supplies and lower grain prices supported the market. more
