What's happening with the Farm Bill?
While some contend that the Farm Bill is dead until after the 2008
elections, others feel that passage before the end of the year is
possible if the Senate only addresses amendments which are germane
to the Farm Bill. Senators have filed close to 270 amendments that
they want to try to attach to the Farm Bill.

EPA sets new renewable fuels
standard at 5.4 billion gallons for '08
The EPA is
setting a new renewable fuels standard (RFS) of 4.66 percent to meet
the 2005 Energy Policy Act's mandate that at least 5.4 billion
gallons of renewable fuels be blended into transportation gasoline
in 2008.

Wildfire risk can be doused if education action
is taken now
We have the potential for
brush fires every year, but what's made it real extreme this year is
the large amount of grass growth from all the rains. And because of
the high fuel loads and weather fluctuations, the serious situation
is expected to remain through March, in spite of the occasional

For the first time in history projections show the Texas agriculture
industry will surpass $100 billion in economic impact for the state.
