Ethanol proves to be the big letdown of 2007
Ethanol, the centerpiece of President Bush's plan to wean the U.S. from oil, is 2007's worst energy investment. The corn-based fuel tumbled 57 percent from last year's record of $4.33 a gallon and drove crop prices to a 10-year high. more
 

S. Korea to introduce nationwide cattle, beef tracking systems in later 2008
"Because comprehensive information on cows and beef will be provided, consumers will not be overly concerned if there are reports of animal diseases in the country or abroad," a ministry official said. He said in the past mad cow reports caused consumers to stay away from all beef because there was no way to tell where the meat came from. more

Paul Hitch, cattle producer from Guymon, Okla., has resigned his position as president-elect of the National Cattlemen's Beef Association due to cancer.  more
 

TCEQ to collect agricultural waste pesticides
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is offering rural Texans the opportunity to dispose of banned or unwanted pesticides, properly rinsed plastic pesticide containers, used motor oil, oil filters, and lead-acid batteries free of charge in the following counties: Dec. 4-Uvalde, Dec. 5-Wilson, Dec. 6-Nueces, Dec. 11-Fisher, Dec. 12-Tom Green and Dec. 13-Gillespie. more
