"Last Chance" Continuing Education Unit training set for Feb. 5

People needing Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units can earn five during the Texas AgriLife Extension Service "Last Chance" pesticide license training. The training will run from 12:30-6 p.m. Feb. 5 at the Texas AgriLife Research and Extension Center at San Angelo.

Participants who complete the program can earn the following credits: one general, two integrated pest management, one laws and regulations and one drift minimization.

Steve Sturtz, AgriLife Extension agent for Tom Green County, said the training is open to anyone in Tom Green or surrounding counties.

"We're calling this the 'last chance' training, because this will be the last time our office will be offering continuing education units before the Feb. 28 deadline," Sturtz said.

"All Texas Department of Agriculture private applicator license holders are required to complete 15 hours of continuing education units during the five years their licenses are valid," Sturtz said. "If your license expires and you don’t have all the continuing education hours needed, then you have to find other training opportunities elsewhere and pay a renewal penalty. So here is a chance to get five of those CEUs you need."

Participants are asked to pre-register by Feb. 4. For more information and to pre-register, call the AgriLife Extension office in Tom Green County at 325/659-6522 or 325/659-6524.

Individual registration is $5.
