Bovine TB detected in
California herd
The diagnosis of TB was made
after a cow with suspicious lesions was found during routine
slaughter inspection. California Department of Food and Agriculture and USDA veterinarians completed tests on
some herds that may have been exposed based on animal tracing records
and determined that, to date, TB is present in just one herd.

State Senate committees
to study issues concerning Cattle Raisers
Texas Lieutenant Governor
David Dewhurst has released his interim committee charges for study
and report before the next session of the Texas Legislature convenes
in January 2009.

Skaggs, TSCRA's executive director for government affairs and public
relations has prepared the following list of charges of most concern
to Cattle Raisers. more
Texas cattle inventory
down 1 percent
The
inventory of Texas cattle and calves totaled 13.8 million head on
Jan. 1, 2008, down 1 percent from last year's inventory of 14.0
million head, and down 2 percent from the 2006 inventory of 14.1
million head.
