April watershed workshop slated for Brady
Organizers of the Texas
Watershed Steward program urge anyone interested in water preservation
to mark their calendars for a free workshop set for 8 a.m.- 4 p.m.,
April 2, 2008, in the Pilot's Lounge at Curtis Field in Brady, Texas.
Curtis
Field is located at 3821 U.S. Highway 377 North. Brady Creek's water
quality and watershed protection plan will be the focus of the workshop
sponsored by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service and the Texas State
Soil and Water Conservation Board.
The
workshop will provide science-based watershed education to enable
citizens to address local water issues, according to Jennifer Peterson,
AgriLife Extension program specialist, College Station.
"Texas
Watershed Stewards trained through this program will learn about
watershed systems and water quality regulations and monitoring,"
Peterson said. "The training also provides the basic knowledge and tools
needed to form a watershed action group to protect and enhance your
community water resources."
Peterson said the program offers seven continuing education units in
soil and water management for certified crop advisors, seven continuing
professional education credits for certified teachers in science, and
three continuing education units in the general category to Texas
Department of Agriculture pesticide license holders.
The
pre-registration deadline is March 28. A meal will be provided.
Online registration is available at the Texas Watershed Stewardship Web
site at http://tws.tamu.edu.
